The use of mobile devices has exploded over the past few years, to the point where most people own at least one. Although individuals and organizations use them as computers every day, devices are often left vulnerable to attack.

Mobile device security protects data on portable devices and their connected networks. The term “portable devices” includes more than just smartphones. It covers digital notebooks, tablets, and even laptop computers.

There are a number of factors that could pose a threat to your device, including, but not limited to:

• Downloading malicious, third-party mobile apps (like spyware)
